Opening of Accounts by Foreign Nationals
Effective July 1, 2014, the following changes will be made to customer identification document requirements for the opening of accounts by customers who are foreign nationals.
- (1)Eligible customer identification documents will be limited to resident cards or special permanent resident certificates. Resident cards must be for a period of residency of at least one year. When opening an account by mail, copies of these documents as well as original receipts of utility charges will be required.
- (2)Shinsei Bank only accepts requests to open accounts in the name stated in the above mentioned customer identification documents.
Accounts cannot be opened using an alias. - (3)"U.S. citizens (U.S. nationals)" or "U.S. permanent residents (Green Card holders)" are required to submit additional IRS forms in order to open an account. Accounts will not be opened unless these forms are submitted. Please click here for details.
