SBI SHINSEI BANK
Safe Dealings
AttentionPlease take caution in handling your PIN and password
Please exercise caution when handling your cash card. You should never casually hand it to a third party or leave it unattended in an unsafe place. If your cash card is lost or stolen, please contact Power Call (0120-456-022) immediately, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Please also take caution in handling your cash card PIN and PowerDirect password. The following are some of the tips for doing so:
Do not choose a PIN or PowerDirect password that is easy to guess, such as your date of birth or telephone number.
Do not use the same PIN or PowerDirect password for other services.
Do not write your PIN and PowerDirect password in a memo or an e-mail.
Do not save any important information such as your PIN and PowerDirect password on your computer. (If you must do so, we recommend you to use clues which will not be recognized by third parties.) Be particularly careful when using a computer with a file-sharing program installed. Such computers are said to be particularly vulnerable to viruses.
Please note that easily guessed numbers as follows cannot be registered as a PIN:
  1. Date of birth
    YYYY, YYMM, MMDD
E.g., if you are born on December 31, 1950, we do not accept "1950," "5012," or "1231."

  2. Telephone number
Four adjacent digits in telephone numbers which start with "03" or "06."
E.g., If your telephone number is 03-9173-8264, we do not accept "9173" or "8264."

  3. Numbers in a serial sequence
    E.g., we do not accept "0123," "1234," or "2345."

  4. Same numeral
    E.g., we do not accept "0000," "1111," "2222," or "0111."
There have been instances when customers have installed software from malicious CD-ROMs purportedly from financial institutions. Personal information such as PIN was collected from these customers without their knowledge and money was illicitly transmitted from the customer's accounts. Please note that SBI Shinsei Bank will never send software on CD-ROMs. We urge you never to install any such software.
We recommend that you set a more complex password, mixing upper case and lower case letters, for example.
